Hey everyone and WELCOME to our new Blog!! I've been meaning to start one for months but just haven't got around to taking the time to type away :-) So, now I'm here ready and willing to share things in our lives (or at least some things) with you, the world! I also realized that this would also be a great way to document the BIG and the smaller things in our life in a fun way.
So it's been a while since I've caught up with a lot of you, maybe even years but hopefully this way I'll be able to re-connect with old friends and maybe make a few new ones, too. I've got alot going on in life right now 1) I'm planning Maddox's 3rd b-day party (Handy Manny style) which will be coming up on the 16th 2) I'm helping to plan my sister-n-law Yvonne's baby shower (she's having me a new little nephew - Levi Cole) which will be May 8th back home in Red Oak and 3) I'll be running (or walking is probably more like it) in the Lupus Walk in Grand Prairie on April 24th in honor of my mom who has Lupus. Those are just a few of the things going on in the near future.
In the midst to all of those things, Madelyn and I are converting to Catholocism so that we can join the Faith with Phillip who has been raised Catholic all his life. This is a very long process and is a really big commitment but both Maddie and I are very excited about it. I was raised Baptist (but never Baptised) because my grandfather was a Baptist minister so this is really different for me to say the least. I've wanted to get to this place in my life for a very long time and when 2010 came I just felt that I was ready - and I'm SO very glad I made this choice. Madelyn takes her classes every other Monday night at the church, which I attend with her. She has lessons and we bought DVD's to go along (which Maddox really likes I might add). The exciting thing about Maddie's classes is even though they are very informative they make them fun and understandable and not boring and dreadful for the kids. On the Monday's Maddie doesn't have classes I go to class, it's a small class with about 6 other adults that attend with me. On the other hand, Maddox will be baptised at the Catholic church by June. Since he is under 7 and still considered an infant Phillip, me and the GodParents will only attend 2 preparational classes before he is is baptised. And then if all goes well Madelyn and myself will be baptised together next Easter Vigil, with Phillip and Maddox greeting us into the water with the Priest. As I follow the steps through Phillip and I will be married in the church, not only because marriage is considered a sacrament in the Catholic religion but also since we were married originally at the JP, very important for us both. I'm VERY excited and also very BLESSED for all of the gifts GOD has given me over the years and I must admit it feels really good to include mass and prayer into my daily life.
Phillip has worked so hard over the past years at his job that since we moved here 6 years ago he has grown and expanded the LKQ location that he was brought here to run so much that they completely outgrew the original building! Because of the high sales and great employees that work for him the company built a HUGE, new facility from the ground up with Phillip picking all the extras to make sure the new facility was a state of the art, fully operational plant, ready to be moved into, with plenty of additional room to continue growing. After MANY months of hard, hard, frustrating issues and set backs everything seems to be very smooth! I am so very proud of Phillip because his place is really making money and looks really nice! After, lots of nights, and many months of barely seeing him (early early mornings and sometimes so late at night I was in bed) he's finally able to take a small breather and let the place run it's self a bit. It feels really nice to have him back as a functioning part of our family!! And, because of all his hard, hard work and commitments I know that this family has financial security.
As, I wind up with my post for today I wanted to also say how very proud I am of Madelyn who received all A's and also a Homework Hitter award with her report card she brought home this week. She loves school so much like I did when I was her age and that makes me smile. She hates to miss school for any reason and gets herself up with her own alarm clock and is ready before she even comes downstairs in the morning. She is in 3rd grade but has a 7th grade reading level. Go Madelyn Mommy LOVES you!!!!
Until next time, I'll promise to keep blogging, and hopefully you will keep ready! More pics to come :-)
